Hi, Friends – Karyn here from the Family Food for Moms podcast. I just wanted to let you know that I’ve decided to take a break from the podcast for three months. I won’t be publishing any episodes during May, June, and July, but I’ll be back at the beginning of August. I need to take a break over the American summer in order to really focus on marketing for my Case of Adventure business – I just won’t have time for everything. We’ve also got a grandmother visiting from Belgium, and a whole lot of other things going on.
It’ll be good to be refreshed, and to come back strong again. I really love doing this podcast and talking through things. I love thinking about celebrating with your family, about date nights, about learning new cooking skills, and about being inspired by different cultures and the way they do food. I’m excited to continue in August.
Here are a few episodes that you might be interested in. Let’s start with the most popular ones – though they might not necessarily be the best.
- Episode 25 – What We Can Learn About Food and Eating Habits in Biblical Times. I also find it fascinating how they lived and ate back then.
- Episode 82 – How to Disguise the Taste of Eggs (and Other Breakfast Ideas for When You Don’t Like Eggs!) That one is very popular.
- Episode 34 – What we can learn from the Amish about Food and Healthy Eating. The Amish are fascinating and they’ve got so many healthy habits, plus growing their own food and all of that. Even if you can’t grow your own food, it’s inspiring to hear what they do.
- Episode 20 – What is Donald Trump’s Favorite Meal? And Joe Biden’s? George Washington’s? A Fun Episode on what the Presidents Like to Eat.
- Episode 24 – What we can Learn From the Spanish about Food and School Lunches in Spain
You can listen to some of these over the summer / winter if you feel like it. Now let me tell you some of what my favorite episodes have been, going backwards:
- Episode 129 – Dessert Is a Not Bad Thing – How the French and Belgians do Desserts and What to Make at Home. I love this one. You know why, of course.
- In the Cooking Skills Series, for if you’re interested in learning more about cooking basics, there’s episode 128 – Cooking in Sauce.
- How to Cook Meat Well – episodes 125 and 126. Those are also part of the basic cooking skills series.
- Episode 119 – How to season your food amazingly. (Cooking Skills Series)
- Episode 118 – Heat Control – How to Bring Your Food to the Next Level using the Correct Heat Settings – Cooking Skills Series. I’ll be doing more episodes in the Cooking Skills series when I come back in August.
- I also love the inspiration of learning from how they ate during the war and in the 1900s. Episode 116 is What we’ve Lost from Cooking and Nutritious Food since the 1900s and How We Can Bring it Back.
- Episode 115 is Meal Planning with Themes.
- I love being inspired by books as well. Episode 122 is How We Can Be Inspired by Meals in Enid Blyton Books from the 1940s.
- Episodes 123 and 124 are about hospitality.
- Episodes 2 and 87 are inspired by Downton Abbey in England.
- Episode 112 is about Caribbean food.
- Episodes such as 109 are about being fully present and making it meaningful as a family.
- We have a chef series with people like Gordon Ramsey, Jamie Oliver, and Guy Fieri, and what we can learn from them about our cooking.
- Episode 106 is on How to Use a Crocpot or Slow Cooker, How to Cook the Best Meals in it – Helping You Get Super Confident!
- Episode 104 is Ideas for Side Dishes.
- Some episodes are on comfort foods, like 102 – Swiss Comfort Foods, Episode 100 – Italian Comfort Food., Episode 99 – French comfort food.
- Episode 101 – Lunches and Snacks on the Go – Easy and Nutritious Food For When You’re On the Road!
- Episode 97 – Budget Friendly Last-Minute Dinner Ideas.
There are lots of things that you can listen to that you may not have done so yet. Remember our Elegant, Easy Appetizers book. It contains elegant, easy appetizer recipes for when you’re having friends, or whenever you want to be able to make one very easily. They look very elegant and fancy without needing too much work.
Have a look through our past episodes. There are a whole lot – how to renew your passion for cooking, how to eat lunch like they do in Europe, salads, picnic food, food for toddlers and young children, and more. I’ll see you in August.
I hope you have a fabulous summer or winter, wherever you are. Thank you for being part of my audience. I really appreciate you!
